Product details for Synology DiskStation DS1819+ 8-bay NAS

Make sure you and your team are well-prepared for the workday with the DS1819+ desktop NAS from Synology. Different from the usual external hard drives, the NAS (network-attached storage) device can be integrated directly into your network. This gives all computers connected to your network access to the device and data. It offers you ample storage space and needs far less power than regular PCs. It has an Intel Atom C3538 4-core 2.1 GHz processor. It has Several users can access data at the same time thanks to the 4 GB of RAM. You can incorporate the following data storage arrays in this desktop NAS system: 0, 1, 10, 5, 6 and JBOD. JBOD (or "just a bunch of disks") allows you to connect hard drives of various sizes to create a multi-drive storage system. Unlike RAID levels, you will not lose any storage capacity of the various drives you combine.

RAID 0 stores your data on multiple drives, which increases performance and speed as all work is split among the various drives rather than handled by just one. The drives should ideally have equal storage capacities and a minimum of two drives are required. This RAID level offers no fault tolerance and is therefore best suited for large volumes of high speed storage. When using RAID 1 your data will be mirrored from one drive to another so that if one fails you will not lose any information. This fault tolerance also means that your total drive storage capacity is halved due to duplicated content. For smaller NAS systems RAID 1 is an ideal option. Using RAID 5 means your data is split among multiple hard drives — when one drive has an error the data is copied and distributed to the other drives. With this method you can retain the storage capacity of all your drives. It's the ideal choice for larger NAS systems with more than three drives. RAID 6 offers you high data security and is still operational even if two hard drives in the system fail.

Experience great quality and good, comprehensive service, from the moment you order to the delivery of your purchase.
